Sunday, May 15th, I had the pleasure of photographing Mackenzie + Stefani’s stunning rustic Fraser River Lodge wedding.
Mac + Stefani met back in 2012 after Stefani took a construction job out in Alberta (where she was attending school) where Mac just happen to be her supervisor. After that summer, Stefani headed back to school and before she left Mackenzie asked her out for dinner.
Mac knew right away he wanted to marry this girl and if you have had the pleasure of meeting either of these two you would know they are two of the sweetest, warmest people you will have ever met. It made total sense he fell head over heals for her.
Stefani on the hand, took a bit longer to realized she felt the same, but it was there!
13 months ago, Stefani was visiting BC after her exams and Mackenzie planned a dinner down in White Rock. During dinner, Mac was very anxious and rushed the whole meal. After dinner, they headed down to the beach to a gorgeous lookout location. Once they got to the lookout, Mac hugged her, let go, got down on one knee and popped the question. It was a gorgeous night and a complete surprise.
I was so excited when Stefani asked me to photograph their September 3rd wedding. We shot their engagement shoot down by the river in Chilliwack and I loved hearing about all their plans for their upcoming wedding.
But it’s not Septemeber yet you say. A few months later, in late March, I got an email from Stefani. They had some incredibly exciting news to share: they were expecting their first baby in November. I was over the moon excited for these two! Stefani and Mac were planning to move their wedding up to May and graciously asked me if I was still available. They were so sweet, asking if I would be willing just come for a couple of hours to do some portraits since they knew I had just had N in February.
Fortunately not only was I available May 15th, I was also totally up for shooting their entire wedding. It worked out perfectly!
So with not a ton of time to plan a wedding Stefani shared that it was a bit hectic and that if it was not for her family, they never would have been able to pull it off. She says: plan early, get help from as many experienced brides as possible and just have fun! It may not totally come together as you planned but it will be wonderful none-the-less.
I am so excited for these two and their sweet baby that will be arriving this November! Thank you again Mac and Stefani for inviting me part of your special day. I could not have asked for a better couple and wedding to shoot for my first wedding back this season.
